STARSKATE TECHNICAL TRAINING
BFSC is excited to offer a STARSkate Technical Training session for all skaters STAR 1 and up. This exercise/drill based program will ensure that skaters progressively build a solid foundation through reinforcement of basic stroking, posture and correct technique which in turn fosters skill acquisition and retention. Small groups with direct instruction and correction enhance the learning experience and provide the skaters with exercises that will enhance their own individual practice.
CANSKATE PROGRAM:
- 50 min program for children 3 years of age and up (EXCEPT for the 5yr+ session)
- A learn to skate program for skaters that have some experience or NO prior skating experience
- A dynamic program that focuses on fun and basic skill development
- Skaters of different skill levels and ages may still skate on the same Canskate session.
PRE-CANSKATE PROGRAM:
- 25 min program for children 3-4 years of age
- Designed for 3-4 yr olds who have never skated before or who are not confident with their balance on the ice.
- Will introduce children to the ice, help them become comfortable and work on the essentials needed to move safely and effectively on the ice. Successful skaters can transition to Canskate.
SKATING Fundamentals FOR HOCKEY & Ringette PLAYERS:
- THIS IS NOT A LEARN TO SKATE PROGRAM
- Skaters must be able to skate the full length of the ice forward and backward, be able to stop and get up from the ice unassisted.
- This program focuses on skating fundamentals and will develop balance, agility, control, speed and power for hockey and ringette players.
- Full or partial hockey equipment is recommended.
