Congratulations to all of our Bowmanville skaters that have had a great 2011/12skating season.
Our BFSC skaters have done an amazing job and overcome a lot of hurdles to succeed this year. We have had several skaters complete various tests and move forward thru the CanSkate program. Several StarSkate skaters had an opportunity to be involved in a skating workshop with Canadian Olympian Jeffrey Buttle. We had a very large contingent at EOSIC (Eastern Ontario). Several skaters also moved on to the Trillium StarSkate Championships (Provincial). To see their results check the competition results link for a complete list.
BFSC was well represented by Garrett Mackeen. Garrett and his partner Mackenzie Bent (Uxbridge FSC) competed across Canada and were asked by Skate Canada to represent Canada at the Junior Grand Prix in Brasov, Romania. The pair came fourth of 15 teams in the Junior Dance at the 2012 Canadian Figure Skating Championships held in Moncton, NB. These are some amazing accomplishments for Garrett and the BFSC.
A huge thanks goes out to all of the parents that have volunteered their time during the course of the year. Without your help our kids would not have been able to have as successful a year as they have had. Please speak to a member of the Executive or the Coaches if you are able to help out in any way. Remember that the 60th anniversary is quickly approaching and there will be a lot of help required to make this a fun and exciting time for our skaters and their families.
Keep an eye on the website and the Facebook page for announcements about registration for the 2012/13 season. We hope that everybody has a safe and happy summer. For those that are skating during the summer with Clarington Skating Academy have a fun and safe season.

The Bowmanville Figure Skating Club is a parent-volunteer run club. We are also non-profit and will be needing everyone's help to start preparing for next season's 60th Anniversary celebration. You are very fortunate to be part of the club as we go into our 60th year of skating! The Bowmanville figure skating club was first sanctioned by Skate Canada in October 1953 and has been successfully run by parents like us for nearly 60 years. We are sending this message for 2 reasons, over the 2011/12 skating season we will be holding fundraisers and will be depending on your participation to make our initiatives successful.
The second reason is the BFSC needs your time. We are in need of volunteers for the Executive and for committees. Sign up sheets will be placed in the lobby area throughout the season for various events or you can email

at any time to offer your time. Please don't assume that someone else will do it. We need you. If your child loves skating please help support the club that they love and help keep it running successfully. As some of our Executive members will be moving on after this season, the club will be looking for those interested in any position on the Executive for the 2012/13 season. It is a great opportunity to bring forward all of your ideas and the Executive is also a great way to make a lot of great friends and socialize on occasion too!
Remember, without volunteers there is no club. If you are interested in learning about our volunteer opportunities please contact us by email or ask any Executive member at the rink.
The skaters will thank-you!
